 Loads of excitement, lies in store for visitors to The Terraces. Within stone's throw from this boutique resort, there is a wide variety of travel and tourist destinations that include temples, forests, adventure and wildlife spots, and river rafting facilities. These include temples like Surkhanda Devi, which is located just five kilometers from The Terraces, adventure and wildlife spots such as Kaudia Forest (2 kms away), Rani Chauri Forest (22 kms), Dandachali Forest (21 kms) and Batwaldar Forest (10 kms). Surkhanda Devi is one of the most sought after pilgrimage and tourist destinations in and around Kanatal, largely because it is one of the three temples considered sacred by Hindus --- the other two being Chamba and Kunja Puri. The approach to Surkhanda Devi Temple is 5 kms from The Terraces at a place called Kadukhal and thereon a short but strenuous trek of about an hour. Another important tourist destination is the Tehri Dam, which is located 33 kilometers from The Terraces. Situated on the River Bhagirathi, the main tributary of the Ganges, the Tehri Dam and the large artificial lake created by it are among the largest infrastructural projects taken up in the entire Garhwal region of Uttaranchal. Once it is completed, Tehri will be the tallest dam in Asia and the fourth tallest earth and rock fill dam in the world. Other well-known places situated nearby include Dhanaulti, which is 10 kms away and Mussoorie, 35 kms away. One of the most sought after tourist destinations in the vicinity of The Terraces is Shivpuri, which is a haven for river rafting. In recent years, river rafting in Ganges has become a very popular, exciting sport and Shivpuri, located 75 kilometers from The Terraces, has emerged as the Whitewater River rafting capital of India. The other popular destinations of Garhwal Himalayas in the new born state of Uttaranchal are Chardham Yatra (Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedranath), The Hemkund Sahib, All Adventure Iced Place Auli for Skiing, Off Beat places like Harsil, Dharali, Chopta and high altitude river rafting at Tonks.
